When parts do need replacing we fit OEM or OEM-equivalent components, bed the new pads in, and road-test the car before handing back the keys.
What that squeal actually means
A high-pitched squeal when you brake is usually the wear indicator, a little metal tab designed to be annoying so you book the job while it's still just pads. Grinding means you waited too long: the pad is gone and the rotor is being machined down by bare metal, which roughly doubles the bill. A soft pedal, a pulse through the pedal, or the car pulling to one side under braking is worth a look too.
The job, at your curb
We show up with pads, rotors, and tools in the van. First thing is measurement: pad thickness front and rear, rotor faces, caliper slides. You get told exactly what's worn and what it costs while standing next to your own car. Then the work happens where it's parked. Afterward we bed the pads in with a road test, so the pedal is right before we leave rather than on your first drive.
Ceramic or semi-metallic pads?
Ceramic for most people. They're quiet, they don't coat your wheels in black dust, and they're gentle on rotors, which suits the stop-and-go driving Queens actually involves. Semi-metallic pads grab harder when cold and handle heat better, so they earn their keep on heavy vehicles, anything that tows, and drivers who are hard on brakes. Labor from $95, with parts quoted per vehicle and per axle. Pads-only is a real option when the rotors measure fine; we don't pad the ticket. Most pad-and-rotor jobs are finished the same day, usually within an hour or two, wherever the car is parked. The quote is written, and it comes before the wrench does.
