A mobile BMW and Mercedes mechanic in NYC, for the jobs that do not need a dealer

Most of what a BMW or a Mercedes needs between major services is work we do at your curb: oil to the exact approval spec, pads and rotors with the wear sensor, a battery that is registered to the car, coils and plugs, the gaskets that start weeping at 80,000 miles, and a diagnostic that reads every module rather than just the engine. We bring the tools that talk to these cars properly. What we do not bring is a dealer service department's overhead, and it shows in the number.

Starts at $70

Starting labor for an oil service. Brakes and batteries from $95, diagnostics $95, with parts quoted to the factory spec for your specific BMW or Mercedes before booking.

What we do on these cars at the curb, and what goes to a shop

JobAt your locationNotes
Oil serviceYesOil to the BMW LL or MB approval your engine calls for, filter, service reset
Brakes, pads and rotorsYesWear sensor replaced, service indicator reset, electronic parking brake handled
BatteryYesAGM to spec, registered and coded to the car so it charges correctly
Coils, plugs, misfiresYesCommon on BMW four- and six-cylinders; diagnosed first, not guessed
Oil leaks: valve cover, oil filter housing, oil pan on someMostThe classic BMW leaks; we quote after seeing where it is coming from
Cooling: thermostats, hoses, expansion tanks, some water pumpsMostDepends on access on the specific engine
Diagnostics, warning lights, all modulesYesFull-module scan with a written finding, $95
Transmission, timing chain, air suspension, engine-out workNoShop jobs; we tell you which and what to expect

The dividing line is access and equipment, not the badge. If a job needs a lift for the whole of it, it is a shop job and we say so before you book.

The dealer, the independent, and us

A BMW or Mercedes dealer in the city is thorough, expensive, and a half-day out of your life with the shuttle. The good independents in Queens and Brooklyn are cheaper and just as good, and they are also booked out and need the car dropped off. We are the third option for the large share of work that does not need a lift: we come to the car, at home, at the office garage, or on the street, and do the job there.

The tools matter on these cars and we have them. A BMW battery that is not registered after replacement gets charged like the old, worn one and dies early. A Mercedes with a brake wear sensor tripped needs the sensor replaced and the indicator reset, not just pads. Both cars store faults in a dozen modules a parts-store scanner cannot see. Our scan tool reads and commands all of them, so a diagnosis is a diagnosis and a service reset is done properly.

What these cars actually need, by the mile

Oil, on time and to spec. BMW and Mercedes engines run long factory intervals on oil that meets a specific approval, LL-01 or LL-04 for BMW, an MB 229 spec for Mercedes, and city driving in NYC is the short-trip, high-idle use those intervals were not written for. We bring the right oil and we recommend a shorter interval for a car that lives in Queens traffic.

Then the known items. BMW four- and six-cylinders from the last fifteen years go through ignition coils, and a misfire with a flashing light is usually one coil, not six. Valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets harden and weep, which is the burning-oil smell at a stop. Plastic cooling parts, expansion tanks and thermostat housings, get brittle with heat cycles. On the Mercedes side, brakes with sensors, batteries that go with little warning, and the same run of gaskets. None of it is exotic. It is just work that costs more at a dealer than it should.

A visit, in practice

You text the model, year and what it is doing, or what service it is due for. We confirm the engine from the VIN, because a 328i and a 330i can want different oil and different plugs, and we quote labor and parts before the visit. At the car we do the job, reset the service indicator or the condition-based service item, clear any stored faults that the work produced, and road-test where the job calls for it. Labor starts at $70 for an oil service and $95 for brakes, batteries and diagnostics, with the parts, which on these cars are the larger share, quoted up front to the factory specification.

Buying one, or keeping one going

If you are about to buy a used BMW or Mercedes, our European pre-purchase inspection is a separate service built for exactly that, and it is the single best money you can spend on one of these cars. If you already own one and the battery is the question, the BMW battery replacement page covers registration and coding in detail. This page is for everything in between: the oil, brakes, leaks, lights and misfires that make up most of the ownership cost, done at the curb for less.

BMW and Mercedes across Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan

A lot of these cars live in building garages in Long Island City, Forest Hills, Bayside, Williamsburg and Manhattan, which is exactly where we work. Also Flushing, Astoria, Jamaica, the Bronx, Staten Island and Long Island. Text the car and the symptom or the service, and we come back with the price.

Common questions

Do you use genuine BMW and Mercedes parts?

Genuine or OEM-supplier parts, which are the same part without the dealer box, quoted to you before we book. We do not fit budget parts on these cars because they fail early and cost you twice.

Will mobile service affect my warranty?

No. Maintenance done to the manufacturer schedule with parts and fluids meeting the specification keeps the warranty intact, and we record the mileage and the work so you have the paper. Warranty repairs themselves go to the dealer, where they are free.

Can you reset the service indicator and register a battery?

Yes. Our tool handles the condition-based service reset on BMW, the ASSYST reset on Mercedes, and battery registration and coding on both. A battery that is not registered on a modern BMW is a battery that dies early.

My BMW has a misfire and a flashing check-engine light. Can you fix that at the curb?

Usually. We scan for which cylinder, swap the coil to confirm it follows, and replace the coil and often the plugs. Stop driving with the light flashing until then; a flashing light means unburned fuel reaching the catalytic converter, and that is the expensive part.

Which jobs on these cars do you not do?

Transmission work, timing chains, air suspension, anything needing the engine out or the car on a lift for the whole job. We tell you it is a shop job at the diagnostic stage so you are not paying us to try.

BMW or Mercedes due for service?

Text us the car, the year, and the symptom for a free quote. We typically reply in under five minutes and can often come the same day.
